Oopsie Daisy Shine On Canvas

I just fell in loved the Oopsie Daisy art work as soon as I saw the Club Scrap Kit.  So, after many false starts trying making my own version of collection's daises, I decided to used the art work from this 8.5 x 11 printed paper as my canvas focal image.  

I started by making a sky background on my 12 x 12 canvas using Derwent Inktense blocks in blues using a water mister to blend.  Once dry the Intense is permanent, then I added Lindy Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Hydrangea Blue allowing it to puddle and added spots of Lindy Stamp Gang Starburst Spray California Poppy Gold.

The main flower image is was cut out from two sheets of paper.  First I stamped the Daisy definition stamp in ash Club Scrap hybrid ink and heat set to make it permanent. I love using heat set hybrid ink in all the wonderful Club Scrap colors for any wet mixed media or watercolors. Next I added a layer of Lindy Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Glory of the Seas Gold. The flower center was enhanced with flower soft added to the center.  Next the cut daisies were mounted with foam squares to add dimension.  The lettering uses the Club Stamp collection Vanilla Thicker letters with Lindy Stamp Gang Embossing Power in Morning Glory Azure for extra shine.

The canvas border is painted with grey acrylic paint and Club Stamp collection paper. Half inch strips of caramel paper were mitered.  The black Club Stamp collection paper was cut free hand in a wavy pattern strips.  Each strip was colored lightly with a gold Playcolor metallic paint (from a past Club Scrap Kit) and distressed the edges, before layering on the canvas.

Listen Canvas for Lindy's Stamp Gang June Challenge

I've have recently discovered Lindy's Stamp Gang (LSG) products and I love them.  They have shimmery, two tone sprays in non-clog bottles, two tone embossing powers, and magical powder paints.  So I used my new stash of LSG products to make a canvas for the June 2014 LSG color challenge.  For more information on the LSG challenge go Here.

The background canvas is covered with book text & matte medium.  Then colored with LSG Starburst Spray.  The main background was made with embossing paste and stencils.  Then it was colored several colors of LSG Starburst sprays.  In a few locations I added some LSG embossing powers to add a bit more texture.  The clouds are vellum with highlights is LSG embossing power.  I adhered the vellum to the canvas with embossing paste making the white part of the cloud.  The lighter grass and leaves were colored Magical mica powder.  The flowers were colored with LSG Starburst Spray. "Listen" was stamped on a scrap from Gelli printing.  The boarder was stamped randomly with a sheet music stamp in amethyst hybrid ink.  Selected areas were distressed with Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy & Pitt big brush pen Walnut Brown.  

I painted gesso on leftover Tim Holtz Laboratory paper that I then colored them with LSG Starburst sprays.  The bird and branch is a Sizzix alternations die; the flowers are from a Stampin Up punch.  I used two die cuts of the bird and branch. I made a recessed location for the bottom layer by using a scrap paper die cut when applying embossing paste.  On the top layer I included Glossy Accents over the bird's body.  The flowers have brass mini-brad centers.  The small leaves were creative use of extra paper towels used to catch over spray.  They were so richly colored that I just had to use them.

Picnic Origami Cards

Welcome to the Club Scrap Picnic Collection Blog Hop! To return to the start of the hop here.

I'll admit it when I first saw the Picnic collection, as beautiful as it is, I wondered what I could do for the blog hop.  I don’t want to seem like a Goth girl, but all the pink, bright colors, and the crisp retro images, are just not "me".   So I trusted and remembered this is Club Scrap.  So I knew the collection pieces would all work together and my job was to stretch my style. As a result I had a lot of fun with the kit and decided that it was "some what me" after all.

The collection made me think of 50's dresses and pastel clothes at picnics. So my first resource was the Club Scrap Blog.  So I took the Dungarees Origami dress shirts and turned them into retro picnic shirts.  I used text weight paper to make Gelli Plate prints for the origami.  The first ones used distress ink and then with fluid acrylics with of course CS stencils. 

Then I looked up Origami Dress for something retro for the ladies.  I had fun adding embellishments and even making a little girls dress as a variation.

Then I used the Picnic digital kit to make plaid for the wardrobe because what is a retro picnic without pastel plaid clothing.

Doorway Journal Cover - Tim’s Compendium III Challenge #5

So here is my 5th Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities Volume III challenge entry. The challenge is hosted by L3 Studios, learn more about the "CC3C" challenge here. To play along you need the book for the technique. Below is my challenge element - 39. Distressed Watercoloring - Part 1. This was my first time doing this technique and it was lots of fun!  The doorway stamp and quote are from Club Stamp.

Thankful for the Rain - Tim’s Compendium III Challenge #4

So here is my 4th Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities Volume III challenge. The challenge is hosted by L3 Studios, learn more about the "CC3C" challenge here. To play along you need the book for the technique. Below is my entry for the challenge - 49. Layering Stencil: Texture Paste. I love the way the inks absorbed and flowed around the embossing paste.

 

My project for this time started with a Prima Paper Doll Stamp and my new Peerless watercolor paints used to color in the stamp.  After that I spent a long time looking at the page before I came up with a design to frame her.  I wanted to use flowers, so after finding the quote, "Give Thanks for the rain in your life, which waters the flowers of your soul - Jonathan Lockwood Huie," I went for the grey rainy background.

“Be” Note Board for Tim’s Compendium III Challenge #3

I recently went to a scrapbook retreat with 15 of my craftiest girlfriends.  This was the perfect time to try out a new technique, better yet a Tim Holtz technique.  So here is my 3^rd Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities Volume III challenge.  The challenge is hosted by L3 Studios, learn more about the "CC3C" challenge here. To play along you need the book for the technique. Below is my entry week 3 of the challenge - 65. Faux Tea Roses.  

The organizer, Rebeca, generously gave us each a plain white IKEA wet erase memo board to decorate. This is the perfect project for adding those Tim's beautiful dimensional tea roses.  I was also able to use my new Stampers Autonomous classic stamp #5.  And since it is not done until the back is finished…..

Comfortable Jeans Mini Album

Welcome to the Club Scrap Dungarees Collection Blog Hop! To return to the start of the hop here. This is the time for graduations and I needed a gift for a high school graduate going away to college.  Instead of going for something formal, I went for something worn and comfortable made with the Club Scrap Dungarees Collection. The pattern is for a Cascading Pocket Mini Album designed by Laura Denison. I love the jean pocket paper and made the cover with a real pocket.  It includes removable distressed flowers and keys from the Club Scrap Lock and Key collection.  

The inner album features pages with flaps and pockets for mats/tags up to 4 x 6 inch.  The front and back covers have pockets for extra tags since each pocket will fit several tags.  It was a lot of fun using the Dungarees cut aparts to decorate each page.  

I was inspired to make the distress flowers by Julie's Dungarees Rag Quilt card.  I thought the look would be great for a contemporary but shabby flower.  The flowers we made by cutting 1 inch squares and rounding two corners.  First the edges were distressed; then the petal was colored with fluid chalk & wrinkled.  The center is a colored circle covered by a Dungarees rivet stamp embossed in Club Scrap Hematite embossing power.
