I got a little bogged down with possibilities and spent most of April on
Pinterest collection ideas and techniques.

In my exploration I discovered some new products like liked as well as many techniques. I was impressed with the variety of
multi-tone options from
Lindy’s Stamp Gang (or LSG) sprays, mica powers, and embossing powered. I featured many of these products in my
project. I had a lot of fun trying
different things and learning a lot, but it was not until the weekend before
the hop that I got serious about a project.
I was immediately hooked on Gabrielle Pollacco blog at
Such a Pretty Mess. I choose this tutorial

I started with three 6 inch squares of scrap cardboard. The great tip I got from Gabriella’s video
was to wet the cardboard to tear off the top layer and wet the edges of the
heavy weight paper to curl it. The cardboard is dry brushed with gesso and
inked with Distress Stain Shaded Lilac. The Hydrangeas lite kit came with large
Doilies. I painted one with LSG Magical
Mica Power in Glory of the Seas Gold and added it in selection locations on the base layer.
Next I select Hydrangeas Collection papers for each
panel. To them I added the one of the
Club Scrap pattern basics papers in a blue green pattern. I tore the edges, curled paper, and layered
each piece. For the center panel I added the Hydrangeas yellow tulle ribbon
with the curled center opening. Each
paper is inked with a combination of three Distress Inks: Wild Honey, Vintage
Photo, and just a touch of Walnut Stain.
On top of each paper I added random background stamps: CS scrip from
Neon Doodles in Memento Rich Brown and CS brick wall from Wisteria in Amethyst.
On top I added random stencil accents (CS Cape Cod Burlap Stencil and
CS Bugs Dragonfly Stencil) using light modeling paste and LSG Embossing Power in Madonna Robe
Blue or Angel Wings Peacock. These two
tone embossing powers change with the background underneath. This double embossing technique is from a
Jennifer McGuire Video.
Once the base was completed I made specific accents for each
panel. They are all tied together with
the heat embossed Dragonfly (from CS bugs collection) fussy cut for each
panel. I used five separate embossing
powers, three for each dragonfly to get multicolored wings, two from Kraft
paper and one from black paper. The each
was sprayed with LSG Starburst in Shabby Turbine Teal to color gaps.
For the top panel I used a three step
process with the
Hydrangeas stencil to make a large flower. First I created a colored background using
LSG Starburst Sprays. Second, I applied
gesso through the stencil and when that was dry I painted LSG Magical Micas and
water. Third, I used the stencil with
light modeling paste and LSG Embossing Power. Finally I fussy cut them, inked
the edges, and mounted with foam tape. Below is the product list. The hanging loop is twine with Hydrangeas green tuft wire wrapped around it.

For the center panel has the dragonfly is the central image
mounted on top of a circle made with
Hydrangeas dollies pleated with the blue
Hydrangeas seam binding. It is inked
with the Distress Stain in Milled Lavender.
I painted a blue Hydrangeas Tag with LSG Magical and inked edges and
mounted with Hydrangeas white ribbon.
The quote, one of my favorites, from a CS Wisteria stamp in Memento Ink
in Rich Brown.

For the bottom panel I made a dimensional hydrangea with a
paper punched from the leftover paper sprayed for the large flower from this
tutorial from
Kittie Kraft, using the Martha Stewart 3 in 1 hydrangea punch. The
leaves are made from a circle punch and corrugate press as learned from Jennifer McGuire.

techniques. I was particularly impressed with the
Lindy’s Stamp Gang products. I
