Pocket Card and Frame Formula

Welcome,
Today I'm making even more cards for my favorite sources of card sketches: Operation Write Home (OWH) and Retro Sketches.   I'm using elements from the Club Scrap Lock and Key Collection and their Assembly Line Card Making (ALCM) method for efficiently using paper.  To see more card making formulas see their blog Club Scrap Creates.  For this ALCM formula I used three sheets of 12x12 paper and six sheets of 8.5 x 11 and some extra scraps to make 9 cards.  For the formula direction see the end of the post.

The line drawing below shows how to cut each of the three sheets of 12x12 paper and three sheets of 8.5 x 11.  The remaining three sheets of 8.5 x 11 are cut in half and folded to make six A2 cards.  With this formula and some extra red scraps I make 9 cards.  What I do combine the papers together for each card, but put all the extra scraps together to use for the extra accents.  Also I pick some ribbons, punches, and embellishments. I made these last week for the frame challenge for Club Scrap Assembly Line Boot Camp (ALBC).

Bold Card Formula for the Take Wing Collection

Welcome,
Today I'm making cards for my favorite sources of card sketches: Operation Write Home (OWH) sketch #217, Mojo Monday sketch #338, and Retro Sketches #80.   I'm using elements from the Club Scrap Take Wing Collection and their Assembly Line Card Making (ALCM) method for efficiently using paper.  To see more card making formulas see their blog Club Scrap Creates.  For this ALCM formula I used four sheets of 12x12 paper and four sheets of 8.5 x 11 and some extra scraps to make 12 cards.  For the formula direction see the end of the post.

The line drawing below shows how to cut each of the four sheets of 12x12 paper and the four sheets of 8.5 x 11 and some extra scraps to make 12 cards.  What I do combine the papers together for each card, but put all the extra strips and some matching scraps together to use for the extra accent.  Also I pick some ribbons, punches, and embellishments.  This week I'm making cards that sparkle for Club Scrap Assembly Line Boot Camp (ALBC) so I pulled out some dry embossed metal sheet, brads, and rhinestones.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy this ALCM formula.

Card Formula Crazy Using Trees Collection

Welcome to the Club Scrap Trees Collection Blog Hop!

Trees Blog Hop Badge_rev photo Trees_Hop_Badge_zps35358256.jpg
To return to the start of the hop here.
This is the 7th week of the Club Scrap Assembly Line Boot Camp (ALBC) and I have found my card making stride with over 100 cards created. For more information on ALBC on the page above.  I admit it, I have gone a bit crazy with the card making formulas, so it is fitting that I would come up with a formula for the Trees Blog Hop that makes these ten cards.

I love the beautiful heavy weight Club Scrap paper and the talented folks at Club Scrap have many card making formulas to efficiently use your paper.   The blog has many card making formulas and most are based on 8 ½ by 11 inch paper.  I tend to end up with many 12x12 inch papers and the talented Julie came up with a formula for me as shown at Club Scrap Creates.   Here is a post with my cards using the Trees Kit.
I wanted to make more the wonderful Club card formulas and use up even more of my 12x12 inch paper.  So I came up with a formula to use the extra parts left over after cutting an 8 ½ x 11 inch paper out of a 12x12 inch sheet.  The details of the card formula is shown at the end of this post.  I selected two card sketches from Retro Sketches.  What I like about their sketches are all the various options given by the by the design team and participants.  I selected Retro Sketch #97 and Retro Sketch #50 because I really liked the way these particular sketches made use of negative space.  When making cards I cut the paper then sort them into piles for each card.  All the scraps go to the side of my work space for accents.  Then I make up each one at a time trying making them unique using scraps.

Retro Sketch #97
Retro Sketch #50
I  also selected a Club Scrap formula for OWH sketch #171 for four sheets of 8 ½ x 11 inch papers. I added one 8 ½ x 11 inch paper to the three 8 ½ x 11 inch papers from my formula to make four more cards. I cut out both formulas so I could pick from the scraps while assembling each card.

 OWH sketch #171

I love the CS Trees Collection imagery, so I worked out a way to keep the tree trunk in the sampled images.  I place the three smallest panels on the card base with a temporary adhesive.  Then I stamped them all with a combination of Club Scrap Hybrid ink in Earth, Moss, and Leaf.  I removed the small panels and finished the cards with Trees stamps, Trees fibers, Greetings, and a bit of bling.
Your next stop is with the talented Janet from Dishing with Janet and the beginning of the hop is at Club Scrap Creates here.

Card Formula for Scraps from cutting a 12 x 12 inch paper into a 8 ½ x 11 inch paper
To use this formula you will need three 12 x 12 inch papers and three 8 ½ by 11 inch solid papers.  For these six papers you will get six A2 cards and three 8 ½ x 11 inch papers.   Below is my cutting sketch for turning each 12 x 12 inch paper into an 8 ½ x 11 inch paper and piece parts for the Retro Sketch cards.  Then each 8 ½ by 11 inch solid paper is cut in half and scored for the A2 card bases.  All the paper parts listed below:
·         Three 8 ½ x 11 inch papers

·         Six 5 ½ x 8 ½ inch solid card bases, scored at 4 ¼ inch

·         For Retro Sketch #97

o   Three 3 ½ x 4 ¼ inch main mats that can be punched or diecut

o   Three 3 ½ x 1 ½ inch papers to use for a punched or diecut accent

o   Three 4 ¼ x 1 inch strips to use for a greeting

·         For Retro Sketch #50

o   Three 3 ½ x 4 ¾ inch large mats

o   Three 3 ½ x 1 ½ inch papers to use for the long rectangle

o   Three 4 ¼ x 1 inch strips to use for a greeting or accent

Four Trees Cards from 12 x 12 inch Paper

This is the 6th week of the Club Scrap Assembly Line Boot Camp (ALBC) and I was looking for a card making formula using 12 x 12 inch paper.  Luckily my appeal on the Club Scrap Forum was answered by the very talented Julie came up with a formula for me as here at Club Scrap Creates.  I used two 12 x 12 prints from the Club Scrap Trees Collection to make four cards.  To make the cards fit the ALBC week six theme "Framed" I added Trees matting papers.

I ruined one panel so I replaced it with a stamped white panel from the Trees matting papers. For stamping I used Club Scrap Hybrid Inks in Fern, Moss, Earth, and Sandstone.  To these I added antiquing with Distress Ink in Tea Dye, Brushed Corduroy, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, and Broken China.

Graffiti Card Art Box

 photo Graffiti_HopBadge_zpsce43c7a8.jpg

Hello and Welcome to the Club Scrap

Graffiti Collection Blog Hop!

I was a bit late starting my project this month, because of all the wonderful articles in the Club Scrap Creates Graffiti Scrap Rap e-zine has caused a plethora of ideas to swirling around in my head.  Once I settled down the Graffiti collection has helped me focus on two things I have wanted to do for a while (1) get back into card making and (2) play around with my Gelli Plate.

To make my Assembly Line Card Making (ALCM) IdeaDecks more accessible I make this card file using a scaled down version of Laura Denison’s Accordion Recipe Box Pattern and video.  My box is 6 x 4 x 2.5 inches.  A bonus is that I can use the cute tins the Idea Decks came in for an altered project; it may even turn up next month. ;-) What I really like about this pattern is the way the box opens to create an easel for the idea card.  I colored in some cut aparts to decorate the box and finished the top with Glossy Accents.

Next, I pulled out my Gelli Plate. I had to have, but until this weekend I had not used it.  Club Scrap Creates was there to inspired me with this post from Tricia. For my first experiments I keep it simple only using the Graffiti squiggle heart stamp and some bright acrylic paints.  Here are some of my very first samples.  It was great fun to just mix colors, so I made a bunch more.

Finally it was time to ALCM some cards.  I selected the Seven of Hearts from Idea Deck Two to make four Matchbook Cards.  I always have trouble following directions, so I used the sketch a starting point.  The Gelli Plate art panels became the main panel of the card and I used the diagram to cut my other papers efficiently.  I stamped greetings in neon and India ink and again colored them.  I added a yellow/orange paper from the Club Scrap pattern basics to the mix as distressed mats and finished with Graffiti Ribbon.

I hope you have enjoyed all the inspiration from the blog hop this month.  Your next stop is with Janet and Dishing with Janet or you can return to Club Scrap Creates for the full list.

Until next time,
Happy Creating,
Debby

Happy Spring Assembly Line Card Making Formula (ALCM)

 photo NSDbloghopbadge_zpsd75f52df.jpg

Welcome to your final stop on the National Scrapbook Day Club Scrap Blog Hop.

Aren't the projects so far gorgeous?

Today I’m giving you a formula to make 10 cards, using just seven sheets of paper, stamps, inks, and miscellaneous embellishments.  The method I’m using is Assembly Line Card Making (ALCM) developed by Tricia Morris at Club Scrap here is an example.  It is a great way to use up extra items from your stash.  The card sketches are from Operation Write Home (OWH).  OWH sends handmade blank cards to soldiers for them to send to their loved one.  I encourage you to send some of your finished cards to OWH.  Club Scrap has a goal of sending 2,013 cards to OWH in 2013 and if you contribute you could win a Club Scrap gift certificate, more information here.

I’m calling this ALCM – Happy Spring because I used the Club Scrap Spring Weekend of Workshops (WOW) collection for my cards. I’ve added the instructions at the bottom of the post. Here is the paper used (4 sheets of 12x12 paper and 3 sheets of 8.5 x 11 paper), the cuts made to the 12x12 papers, and the resulting scraps.

Here are the final cards by OWH sketch.  I used the WOW stamps, ribbons, and embellishments along with Gelatos and Inktense Water Colored Pencils to decorate the cards.

OWH sketch #167
 OWH sketch #51
 OWH sketch #98

I just had to do a more masculine version, you can think of these as his & hers.  I uses the Club Scrap Fossils Remix paper collection and Equestrian collection stamps.  I added in embossing powder, watercolor paper, markers, dry embossing and Gelatos.  Both sets use greeting stamps from the Club Scrap Wildflower collection.  The ALCM approach is very versatile and especially easy with Club Scrap's color coordinated collections.
