Club Scrap Greetings To Go - Sunflowers Collection

So glad to be back blogging again. This month I had the great pleasure of being the Club Scrap Greetings to Go guest artist as shown on the Club Scrap Blog. Even after making all those cards I still wanted to make more with the beautiful Club Scrap Sunflower Collection. Here I've posted another set of cards I made to showcase some of the techniques I used.

The seed pack card is based on the Club Scrap August Card Sketch has an added slide out greeting panel in addition to the seed packet.

August Card Sketch Challenge from the Club Scrap Forum 

The card sketch challenge can be entered in the Club Scrap Forum and you'll have chance of winning a gift certificate.

Base - 3-3/4 inch x 11 inch print scored at 2-3/4 on each short side

Make the pocket base as shown above.  Where the base sides meet tear the edge, leaving 3/4 inch un-torn on the left.  Curl the edge with a pencil to make the opening. Ink edges if desired.

Inside pullout from a 5-3/8 inch x 4-1/4 inch panel.

Make a tab using an envelope punch board or other desired method and trim off excess.  Cut slits on each short side 1/2 inch from the bottom, 1/2 inch wide x 2-1/2 inch long.

Install pocket closer and tabs to hold pull out.

The pocket is made by using a 3/4 inch x 5-1/2 inch strip scored in half. Cover the inside edge with washi tape to ease sliding the pull out. Small 1/2 inch tabs hold the end so the pull out cannot be removed. Decorate as desired.

Use a small scrap to attach the bottom and top covers of the pocket.

This shows the card ready to place the top piece over the pull out.

For an easier pull out just leave off the slots and tabs.

For this card I scored the light green base (11 inch by 4-1/4 inch) short sides at 2 inch on one side and 3-1/2 inch on the other.  Then I scored the green base (8-1/2 inch by 5-1/2 inch) short sides at 1-3/4 inch on one side and 2-1/2 inch on the other.  To make sure you have place for each panel fold the card and place panels before attaching the two base pieces together. To the embossed panels I added Inktense watercolor pencil to the flower for this card.

The background was made using distress ink in progressive colors and a torn sheet of paper.

Shimmer Watercolor Card

This is a new card using Lindy's Stamp Gang magicals to watercolor the image. These are similar to Color Bursts, but they have extra shimmer. This gave a wonderful shine to the watercolors.

Double Stamped Card

This card shows the double stamping technique that gives a muted shadow to the image. I used a MISTI for stamp positioning, but any type of positioning tool will work.

Bonus "Mistake" Card

Here is what I thought was a mistake. After double stamping on the light green I found it too light for the white stamping to show. To see what would happen I clear embossed the large sunflower and then sprayed the panel with LSG Starbursts in Mission Bells Brown and Clam Bake Beige.  It was a surprise how the white ink resisted the spray and how yellow the flower looked against the brown. 

It turns out this card is perfect for the Club Scrap August Technique Challenge:  vintage/sepia coloring with embossed images. If you go to the Challenge post Linky section you can vote for your favorite. If I'm luck that might even be this card. 

As a bonus here is how I used multi-color gilding leaf to make the greeting. First I stamped and heated the sticky heat embossing powder until it looked shiny. This goes faster than regular clear embossing, but it all needs to be "wet" for the technique to work.

Scrub with a Gentle Sponge Scrubber to Clean off Excess.

Window Box Panel

Welcome to my entry for the Lindy's Stamp Gang October 2014 Challenge

My Window Box Panel uses a variety of Lindy's Stamp Gang (LSG) products.  The panel is a corrugated cardboard with an easel back with edges embossed in Scotch Broom Yellow.  The base window panel is specific made using a make your own resist paper video tutorial from Katie Palmer at Sparkle Tart.

Mixed Media Paper

Club Scrap Stamps: Take Wing and Bon Appetite

LSG Starburst Spray - Blue Hawaiian Blue

LSG Embossing Powder - Angel Wings Peacock and Desert Moon Teal

The final panel cut from a Sizzix Cabinet Die was colored with a combination of LSG Starburst Spray in Wild Honeysuckle Coral, Silent Night Silver, Down the Rabbit Hole, and Cape Cod Coral. The lace was colored with LSG Starburst Spray in Fuzzy Navel Peach.  The flowers were originally white.  

Grey flowers were colored with LSG Starburst Spray in Silent Night Silver and Down the Rabbit Hole.  Then the edges were heat embossed with LSG embossing power in Queen Sheba's Silver. 

Blue flowers were colored with LSG Starburst Spray in  Blue Hawaiian Blue and Down the Rabbit Hole.  Then the edges were heat embossed with LSG embossing power in Angel Wings Peacock.

Peach flowers were colored with LSG Starburst Spray in Fuzzy Navel Peach and Down the Rabbit Hole.  Then the edges were heat embossed with LSG embossing power in Desert Moon Copper Teal.

Coral flowers were colored with LSG Starburst Spray in  Cape Cod Coral and Wild Honeysuckle Coral.  Then the edges were heat embossed with LSG embossing power in Geranium Coral Blush. 

 The details of the panel including paper from Club Scrap.  Embossed title frame is a Club Scrap Homestead Stamp in Scotch Broom Yellow.   The lace is colored with LSG Starburst Spray in Cape Cod Coral and cover in glossy accents.

The shutter panel was made with embossing paste and a Club Scrap wisteria stencil.  Next the panel was spayed with Blue Hawaiian Blue and Silent Night Silver.  Then the raised surface was painted with Distress Paint in Gathered Twigs. The flower stems were colored with Pan Pastels.  The metal scroll is from the Club Scrap Blueprints embellishments.

Interactive Cinema Album

Welcome to the Club Scrap Cinema Collection Blog Hop! I'm so glad you've stopped by my blog.  If you would like to return to the start of the hop here is the link.

The Club Scrap Cinema Collection is so beautiful I decided to make an album for myself. I love pockets and flaps so I chose to make a single segment version of Laura Denison's Foto Folio Two. The materials are taken from the Club Scrap Cinema Collection unless otherwise noted. To that I added some embellishments, art work, punches, and of course pictures. 

I worked on most interior pages during a weekend crop, but I forgot to bring my CS Cinema UM stamps (Oh No!). Turns out the CS Cinema cutaparts were able to see me through most of the album. 

For the cover I add flowers, leaves, "Melt It" buttons, and distressed tin embellishments as described in my Club Scrap Greetings to Go Cards' post. In the background you can barely see the Cinema reel stencil that I colored in with a wine marker and silver pen.  The tabs were made with some Crop-a-Dial corner punches and all was antiqued with Distress Stain in Black Soot. Throughout the book I have used the cutaparts numbers to make similar tabs to divide up the pictures. The punch used on the cover is Martha Stewart Deco Fan corner and edge.

Tab one "4th of July" shows our day at the lake. The photo is black and white colored with Distress Ink in various colors.

Tab two "Sunset" features Cinema stars UM Stamps in Lindy's Stamp Gang Hydrangea Blue Moon embossing powder on the black panel. 

Tab Three "Band" includes some art work leftover from my Cinema Cards using Izink with the CS Get the Picture Collection stencil.

 

Tab Four "Sports" features a movie quote to go with the sepia baseball photo.  The title was printed with CS Cinema Digital Collection art work and font.

On the inside flap, the CS Cinema Lite collection tan letters were colored with Inktense pencils and water activated to get a distressed look. 

Tab Five "Scouts" uses small 1" x 1.25" pictures on a filmstrip cutapart as in the CS Creates post "Four New Ways to Use Cutaparts."

Tab Six "Cats vs Dogs" uses letters colored with back Inktense pencils and a filmstrip cutapart.

Tab Seven "The Grad" includes a dry embossed panel colored with Brushed Pewter Distress Paint using a brayer to color only the embossed locations.

Tab Eight "Friends" features stamped camera images from the Club Scrap Get the Picture UM Stamps made with Picket Fence Distress Paint. The flap uses a Martha Stewart Deco Tassel corner punch for the tin embellishment. Stamped sentiments are from the CS Picnic and Dungarees Collection.

During the weekend crop I said I wish I could use a video to show the interactive nature of this album and a friend said sure you can.  So, she helped me learned how to make a video and edit it. Here is a video flip though on my new YouTube channel "Debby's MIPC."

Tim's Compendium III Challenge No. 1

I love all things Distress, so I was very exited to get my hands on Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities Volume III.  Unfortunately as often happens I read it eagerly, but I did not actually dig into trying the techniques.  So I was very happy when Studio L3 started a Compendium of Curiosities Volume III biweekly challenge. Below is my entry week 1 of the challenge - 43. Paint Marbling.  You need the book for the technique.  To learn more about the "CC3C" challenge here.

I went a little overboard with this project so it has taken me about 12 days to complete.  Now here I am posting near the end of the challenge entry period.  It was so much fun to add layer upon layer.  Below is my sample of the technique panel with a detailed picture of the finished projection.

I've mostly used my Club Scrap materials in addition to the Distress products of course.  Here is a list of supplies used to the best of my recollect:

Big Deal Winter Mini Album

 

Welcome to the Club Scrap Big Deal Collection blog hop! 

This Big Deal collection is great for all types of pictures.  I made an album using the Club Scrap concertina book project and added my winter family pictures to it.  The beautiful papers, cut aparts and great colors made the decoration simple.  I used the digital kit to mat my pictures and printed some additional embellishments like the face cards.

 

 

 

I have been playing with a lot of fun techniques and I was able to incorporate several into this book.

Here is a close up of my round Gelli plate printing using Big Deal stamps and the an embossed metal plate antiqued with Distress Paint from Tim Holtz.

 

 

Here are some die cut hexagons made with Gelatos and gesso using the Big Deal Stencil using the technique found here from Darlenes Designs.
