Big Deal Winter Mini Album

Big Deal Blog Hop photo bigdealhopbadge_zpse9b81ad9.jpg

Welcome to the Club Scrap Big Deal Collection blog hop!

This Big Deal collection is great for all types of pictures.  I made an album using the Club Scrap concertina book project and added my winter family pictures to it.  The beautiful papers, cut aparts and great colors made the decoration simple.  I used the digital kit to mat my pictures and printed some additional embellishments like the face cards.

I have been playing with a lot of fun techniques and I was able to incorporate several into this book.
Here is a close up of my round Gelli plate printing using Big Deal stamps and the an embossed metal plate antiqued with Distress Paint from Tim Holtz.

Here are some die cut hexagons made with Gelatos and gesso using the Big Deal Stencil using the technique found here from Darlenes Designs.

I hope you have enjoyed all the inspiration from the blog hop this month.  Your next stop is with Janet and Dishing with Janet or you can return to Club Scrap Creates for the full list.

Until next time,
Happy Creating,
Debby

Take Wing Canvas

 photo take_wing_blog_badge_zps287ab906.jpg

Welcome to the Club Scrap Take Wing Hop!

Today I’ve made a canvas based on the "Birds on a Wire" image in the Club Scrap Take Wing digital collection.  I love mix media canvases with the all the texture, layering, and depth.  After reading many blogs and watching many YouTube videos I decided to take the plunge and make my first mixed media canvas. I have broken down the process into four phases:

Phase I - Texture layers
Phase II - Color layers
Phase III - Accentuate
Phase IV - Primary Design

Unless otherwise noted all materials are from the Club Scrap Take Wing Collection.

Phase I - Texture layers

Step 1 – Apply torn paper prints to canvas with matte medium.  Next time I'll use solid paper, since the paper pattern did not show in the final canvas.

Step 2 – Apply tissue paper torn to canvas with matte medium.
Phase II - Color layers
Step 1 – Painted with a light layer of gesso for a good color base

Step 2 – Next add distress paint and stain brushed over the top surface

Step 3 – Add circles using a scrap of bubble wrap that is sprayed with Memory Mist Blue Hawaiian and misted with water.  Then it was allowed to dry in place.

Phase III - Accentuate

Step 1 – Accent the canvas texture with color with the following:
  - Gelatos in white, blues, grey, and yellow

  - Accent edges of torn paper and ridges with distress markers blurring with water

  - Splatter with Memory Mist in bright gold

The video I used to learn methods for adding accents and the bubble wrap technique is Accentuating Edges on YouTube from Vivian Keh.  Her blog is Contadina K.

Step 2 – Stencil three feathers with Perfect Pearl Mist and paint with Wild Honey Distress Stain

Step 3 – Heat emboss the edge of the canvas with Club Scrap Blue Satin Embossing Power and accent texture with Faded Jean Distress Stain.   I learned this one from following Words and Pictures.

Phase IV - Primary Design
Step 1 – Add Birds and Wire
- The "Birds on a Wire" image was enlarged from the Take Wing Digital Kit as a pattern
- Then the birds were cut out of from chipboard and heat embossed twice with Club Scrap Hematite Embossing Power
- Dimension was added by mount bird with Club Scrap black foam tape
- The wire and bird legs are a black cord with a fine wire core

Step 2   Add the "Take Wing Saying"

            – Emboss the saying in Club Scrap Hematite embossing power on the red velum
- Accent the letters with white Prima Fluid Chalk ink
- Underline the phrase with Weathered Wood Distress Marker and blend with water
Step 3 – Add layer and mount title block
- Tear blue and green print and accent edges with distress ink
- Layer and mount with Club Scrap black foam tape

Let me leave you with one last picture that shows the shine.  It took some time, but it was a lot of fun to "play" with the background texture and color until I was happy with it.   If you have not done it before I hope you will give it a try.

Tribal Tri-Pane Project

 photo Tribal_BlogHop_Badge_zps9c75a585.jpg

Welcome to the Club Scrap Tribal Blog Hop!  I have a fun desktop display for you today.  This is basically the Club Scrap Navajo Tri-Pane Project made with Tribal Collection Supplies.   Unless otherwise noted all materials are from the Club Scrap Tribal Collection.
The cover is made from two sheets of chipboard with a curved top traced using a plate.  The wave opening was cut using a metal tearing tool as a guide.  Then I echoed the shape using the Tribal red shimmer paper and grey paper strips.
The cover background is the Tribal Eggshell print with clear embossed Tribal shapes.  This was colored over with gelatos in blood orange, mango, and red cherry.  Then a matching homemade gelato mist and black shimmer mist were splattered over the panel.  The clear embossed areas resisted the gelatos.
The “Growth, Harmony and Strength” focal image is a Tribal stamp embossed with the Tribal Hematite power.  I also embossed the edge with hematite power.  After embossing blood orange and mango gelato was rubbed over the backing paper to create a mottled background.
The inside is matted in black paper with red and hematite embossing.  Did I say I love the hematite embossing power?  Again the curved opening echoed with the Tribal red paper and grey paper strips.
I added mats, tags and cut-outs.  The pictures, from a recent family trip, were printed at home with frames made using the Tribal Digital kit.   Have matching paper, stamps, and digital is great!

Wisteria Cottage Gift Set

Welcome to the Club Scrap Wisteria Collection Blog Hop! To go back to Club Scrap Creates for the start of the Hop.

 photo wisteria_hop_rsz_zpsb435df36.jpg

This time I have a three piece Wisteria Collection gift set including a pen, journal, and a cottage fronted shadow box.  All are project kits from Club Scrap and were made during Club Scraps'  Virtual Summer Camp over the past four weeks. The whole goal of Summer Camp is to complete pages, cards, or projects in a friendly competition.

The cottage is the cover of a shadow box made with the Club Scrap Cape Cod Project Seaside Memory Box Project Kit.

The roof is made of grunge paper and kraft glassine wrinkled and stained with Distress Ink Walnut.  The details are from waxed linen and the Martha Stewart Vintage Floral punch.

Here is a detail of the Wisteria vine made with stamps on tissue paper crinkled and applied with matte medium.  The windows and door are covered with CS neutral basics paper, backed with Wisteria lavender paper and Wisteria ribbon curtains.

This is the inside shadow box:

Starting a the top is a mini flower pot using Wisteria Ribbon and colored paper flowers with pearl centers.  The easel, upper right, is made using a Wisteria collection cutout, and Wisteria hand embossed paper colored with white gelato. The lower level has a mini album with an ATC on the cover.  The ATC was made using Wisteria collection stamp, lattice stencil with molding paste, and word "hope" (for ATC details see yesterday's post). The bottle is from Idea-ology and hanging inside are beaded flowers, and a CS charm (Made with Love).

The journal also has an ATC on the cover with the Wisteria stamp "Listen" and accompanying quote.  The flowers are from the Wisteria collection and have been stamped with birds and music from CS Spring Chorus collection.  Additional flowers and flower centers are punched out of Wisteria hand embossed paper colored with gold gelato.
The journal is based on a YouTube Club Scrap Stitch Bound Book Tutorial.  The journal pages are stitched together and the binding is open. Lavender Wisteria paper is stamped with Wisterias and a brick pattern, then edge punched for the inside facing paper.

The pen gift set is the Club Scrap Milestones Stamper Project. It is covered in Wisteria paper and accented with Wisteria hand embossed paper colored with gold gelato. The box is finished with a Wisteria cutout and rhinestones.

Thank you for joining the Club Scrap Wisteria Blog Hop and stopping at my blog.  Here is a link to you next stop with Janet.  Here is a link back to the hop start at Club Scrap Creates.

Wisteria ATCs

For a challenge using mini art work on a larger project I made these ATCs using the Club Scrap Wisteria Collection.   The challenge was part Club Scraps'  Virtual Summer Camp called Pro-Scrapbooks League (PSL) over the past four weeks. The whole goal of PSL is to complete scrapbook pages, cards, or projects in a friendly competition.

Here is the ATC step by step process:

1) The background heavy white paper was marbled by wiping in Faber-Castel Pitt pens and in light blue & white sprayed with water.

2) Next green mist was used on Club Scrap text weight paper.  The paper was then torn into small pieces and applied with matte medium.  The “grass” was finished by spreading some dark green gelato over it and rubbing in with a finger.

3) Vines and leaves were stamped along the edge using Wisteria Collection stamps.  A little matching gelato was rubbed onto each flower image.

4)  Next the Wisteria stencil and light molding paste were used to make a lattice over the flower images.  Afterwards the paper was trimmed into three ATCs.

5) Finally Wisteria flowers were stamped on white paper and coated with Glossing Accents before cutting out and adhering each ATC.  Small leaves were cut out of the remaining “grass” papers and adhered with matte medium to the top of each wisteria bundle. Each was finished with a stamped word.
Come back tomorrow, July 31, for the Club Scrap Wisteria Collect Blog Hop to see how I incorporated these ATCs into larger projects.

Five Ways to Say Thank You

I love to make cards for Operation Write Home (OWH) and they are looking for Thank You cards.  I also like a challenge when making cards.  Today I am catching up on the Club Scrap National Scrap Book Month of Challenges.  This consists a new challenge every day in May.  So I pulled out my Club Scrap Up, Up and Away Collection with stamps, paper and ribbon.  What I ended up with was five thank you cards using the same stamp, but in different ways.
May 7th Frame Challenge:  I used Pitt Big Brush Pens to paint the stamp before stamping.  Then I cut the mat such that the balloon was outside the edge and added pink lines to make the frame.

May 17th Torn Paper challenge:  I used a scallop tearing tool to make a cloud shape out of vellum.  The stamping is done in white ink on navy blue cardstock.

May 5th Scrappy Border challenge:  I used a metallic gelatos on the stamp to get a soft impression.  The border behind the panel is made from strips left over from cutting the patterned paper into card mats.
May 14th Sketch challenge:  I used green for the main image stamp and then added multiple stampings in fuchsia for the background patterned paper, to bring in all the colors of the ribbons.

May 6th Metallic challenge:  Here the image is tilted and I used a hole punch to thread ribbon into the design.  I added a swirl paper clip and a charm that says "Cherish" colored in with a Copic marker.

There you have one stamp five different ways.  For more inspiration come back Saturday, May 25th for the OWH blog hop

Thanks for stopping by,
