Endless Love Card

Welcome to my World Card Making Day Card: Endless Love

Here is my card for the two different World Card Making Day Blog Hops.  The first is Operation Write Home’s (OWH) World Card Making Day (WCMD) Blog Hop, so the card conforms to OWH guidelines.  The Second is Paper Crafts Magazine’s WCMD Blog Tour.

My card was inspired by the particle greeting "Endless Love" cut from a larger greeting from a Club Scrap Homestead Stamp "This home is full of endless love and laundry." The paper and stamps are from the Club Scrap Homestead and Big Deal Collections with a Stampin' Up punch.

Thank you for stopping by my blog,

Pocket Card and Frame Formula

Welcome,
Today I'm making even more cards for my favorite sources of card sketches: Operation Write Home (OWH) and Retro Sketches.   I'm using elements from the Club Scrap Lock and Key Collection and their Assembly Line Card Making (ALCM) method for efficiently using paper.  To see more card making formulas see their blog Club Scrap Creates.  For this ALCM formula I used three sheets of 12x12 paper and six sheets of 8.5 x 11 and some extra scraps to make 9 cards.  For the formula direction see the end of the post.

The line drawing below shows how to cut each of the three sheets of 12x12 paper and three sheets of 8.5 x 11.  The remaining three sheets of 8.5 x 11 are cut in half and folded to make six A2 cards.  With this formula and some extra red scraps I make 9 cards.  What I do combine the papers together for each card, but put all the extra scraps together to use for the extra accents.  Also I pick some ribbons, punches, and embellishments. I made these last week for the frame challenge for Club Scrap Assembly Line Boot Camp (ALBC).
** 12 x 12 cutting diagram corrected on 4/1/14 **

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy this ALCM formula.

Bold Card Formula for the Take Wing Collection

Welcome,
Today I'm making cards for my favorite sources of card sketches: Operation Write Home (OWH) sketch #217, Mojo Monday sketch #338, and Retro Sketches #80.   I'm using elements from the Club Scrap Take Wing Collection and their Assembly Line Card Making (ALCM) method for efficiently using paper.  To see more card making formulas see their blog Club Scrap Creates.  For this ALCM formula I used four sheets of 12x12 paper and four sheets of 8.5 x 11 and some extra scraps to make 12 cards.  For the formula direction see the end of the post.

The line drawing below shows how to cut each of the four sheets of 12x12 paper and the four sheets of 8.5 x 11 and some extra scraps to make 12 cards.  What I do combine the papers together for each card, but put all the extra strips and some matching scraps together to use for the extra accent.  Also I pick some ribbons, punches, and embellishments.  This week I'm making cards that sparkle for Club Scrap Assembly Line Boot Camp (ALBC) so I pulled out some dry embossed metal sheet, brads, and rhinestones.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy this ALCM formula.

Week 1:  Metallics

Welcome to Club Scrap’s Winter Boot Camp and my entries for week 1.  The challenge for week 1 is to use Metallic paper, embellishments, inks, paints, etc. in your cards, pages, or projects.

** Assembly Line Book Camp (ALBC) = eight weeks filled with challenges to help you get more done.  Every entry on the Club Scrap Creates blog earns:
·         Money for Operation WriteHome (OWH) donated by Club Scrap
·         An entry in Club Scrap  prize drawings
It is a great reason to scrapbook, make projects, and cards with encouragement from friends on Club Scrap forums. You can join in here; it is no pressure, just fun.

Entries 1 and 2:
These are Birthday cards made using a stamped Bokeh technique from Julie at CS Creates.  I then totally “CASEd” the wonderful card made by Marya using this technique. My metallic elements are the blue and green banners using the CS Graffiti metallic paper.  Papers: CS graffiti & misc kits, Stamps: CS Tribal collection, Inks: CS neon ink (love them).  The card's greeting alternates between right and left sides.  Inside is a pocket for gift card tokens.

OWH Card Bowl Enties

Welcome
Today I am working on cards for Operation Write Home's Card Bowl.  The challenge is to make three masculine cards for OWH using three different challenges this weekend.

(1) Masculine Ode to the teams! - this card shows my support for the Seahawks by using there colors.  Growing up in Seattle I can hardly support any other team.

(2) OWH sketch challenge #210 - Here is a card using similar supplies to the Seahawks card, but adding brads per the sketch. Again this uses the Club Scrap Graffiti Collection.
These cards uses supplies from the Club Scrap Graffiti collection.  The blue and green paper is a wonderful metallic finish paper. The card is a Z-fold where the right edge is on the inside.  The chalk look is using white embossing power and a white Prima fluid chalk inker.

(3) ODBD color challenge brown - Here is a card in brown and burgundy based on Retrosketches #100.

(4) And I made an extra for the Retrosketches #100 challenge

For this card I used papers from the Prima Marketing All Star paper pack; stamps from Stampin' Up and Club Scrap; and Club Stamp Fibers.

These cards along with many others I make will go to OWH.  I hope you will join me in supporting OWH. They collect hand made cards (blank inside) to send to our soldiers, so they can keep in touch with their loved ones.

Double Die Cut Thank You

Welcome to my entry in the Operation Write Home World Card Making Day Blog Hop.  For today's card I used the OWH sketch #81.

My Cards were made to use both parts of two diecuts.  The die cuts were a Spellbinders thin heart die in multiple shapes and the Sizzix alternations ornamental mover and shaper.

In Card 1 the key accent is from a Club Scrap Lock and Key Collection free printable.  Accents include glossy accents, Flourish dry embossing folder, Prima fluid chalk white, distress stain in antique bronze, metallic pencil in bronze, and distress ink vintage photo.

Card 2 has accents that include glossy accents, distress stain in antique bronze, metallic pencil in blue, and Antique Gold gilders paste.

Both cards use papers from Neenah and Club Scrap mat red paper.  The stamps are from Club Scrap.  The background technique is detailed in my post from yesterday.  I sealed the shimmery background with clear embossing power to enhance the shine.

Thanks,
Debby

Autumn and Winter Backgrounds

This post is about some techniques to create a mottled multicolored background.  I started out wanting to create an autumn colored background and ended up with a winter night background.  The autumn leaves were for a Club Scrap challenge.  I had extra card mats so I used them for a winter night background.  Come back tomorrow to see how I used the background to make two cards.
I wanted to create a neutral autumn background without any distinct lines.  So I used Tim Holtz wrinkle free distress technique.
  • Spots of Distress Paint Antique Linen and Antique Bronze on my craft sheet
  • Add Distress Ink from the pad in Fired Brick, Crushed Olive, Wild Honey, and Seedless Preserves
  • Sprayed generously with water
  • Wipe the ink up with heavy weight mixed media paper

I liked the result, but it was lighter than I wanted.  So I repeated the process with only the Distress ink and water.  Then I added embossed leaves using Club Scrap Stamps.

From this I created two fall cards with the backgrounds.  The papers are from Club Scrap paper.  The greetings are from the Club Scrap Peacock kit.

Next, I used extra light panels and a salt technique to make a winter night background.
  • Spray mat with water
  • Spray Memory Mist Blue Hawaii
  • Add Distress Stains in Brushed Pewter, Seedless Preserves, Evergreen Bough, Faded Jeans, and Dust Concord
  • Spray more water
  • And Spray Memory Mist Blue Hawaii
  • Sprinkle with coarse salt and allow to dry overnight
  • When dry remove salt
  • Cover the whole mat with clear embossing power to seal
Below is a detailed view of the background created.

Come back tomorrow to see how I used this background for the Operation Write Home World Card Making Day Blog Hop.

Any Hero’s Red, White, & Blue Thank You

Welcome to the OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop. Today I made an “Any Hero” card; i.e. a card from my family to any service person to show our appreciation.  For more information on OWH see this link.
I used OWH card sketch #73 and Club Scrap Cape Cod Collection to make an interactive card.   The “Thank You” tag pulls out of the pocket and my family has signed it.  On the inside of the card we each hand wrote notes.  We make this into a family activity, completing several cards in an evening.

Supplies:
Club Scrap Cape Cod Collection for paper, stamps and cut outs
Club Scrap Blue Satin and WOW White embossing power
Sizzix Embossing Folder
Distress Paint - Picket Fence for edges
EK Success Modern Cube edge punch and Two Point Flag Punch

Thank you for joining along in the Blog Hop and for reading my post.  For more OWH sketch cards and a card making formula see my May 4, 2013 postHere is a link back to the start at OWH Stars and Stamps Blog.
