Cape Cod Interactive Album

 photo CapeCodBlogHop_zps9c0edfc2.jpg

Welcome to my post for the Club Scrap Cape Cod Blog Hop!

As soon as I saw the Club Scrap May Cape Cod Collection I thought of my vacation to Okracoke Island, NC.   Lately I have been inspired by Laura Denison's albums at Following the Paper Trail and this her Memories on File Album, pattern here, scaled down by 75% to a 6 ½ x 9 ½ size. All the tabs and mini folders included in the Cape Cod Collection are perfectly suited to this interactive album. Unless otherwise noted all materials are from the Club Scrap Cape Cod Collection.

Front Cover

The cover frame was made with layers of chipboard, so I could get a three dimensional look.   The background is a picture of a beautiful sunset over Okracoke from the web, that I printed on a paper and vellum, layered with chipboard between them.  The Cape Cod dune grass and fence stamp was embossed with Club Scrap Holiday WOW verdigris embossing power on kraft paper. The lighthouse was from a cut out, mounted on chipboard.  On top of that the frame was added for a total of four layers.
Cover Detail View

Each set of three pages is made from a trimmed down file folder and three envelopes (red and silver). The full album includes six of these three page sets. I alternated between navy blue and black file folders, as can be seen from the spine view.  For each page I added Distress Paint Picket Fence for an antiqued white edge that dries quickly.  I used file folder scraps and additional grey, black, and red card stock for the page details. I finished the edges with EK success round binding edge or Fiskers postage edge punches.

I have only finished the inside cover and first page of the first three page set. The detailed views below shows it with all the pockets and flaps that it just seems to go on forever. It was so much fun to fill! I’ll post more as I get it completed.

Any Hero’s Red, White, & Blue Thank You

Welcome to the OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop. Today I made an “Any Hero” card; i.e. a card from my family to any service person to show our appreciation.  For more information on OWH see this link.
I used OWH card sketch #73 and Club Scrap Cape Cod Collection to make an interactive card.   The “Thank You” tag pulls out of the pocket and my family has signed it.  On the inside of the card we each hand wrote notes.  We make this into a family activity, completing several cards in an evening.

Supplies:
Club Scrap Cape Cod Collection for paper, stamps and cut outs
Club Scrap Blue Satin and WOW White embossing power
Sizzix Embossing Folder
Distress Paint - Picket Fence for edges
EK Success Modern Cube edge punch and Two Point Flag Punch

Thank you for joining along in the Blog Hop and for reading my post.  For more OWH sketch cards and a card making formula see my May 4, 2013 post.  Here is a link back to the start at OWH Stars and Stamps Blog.

Teacher Gift Tag Wallet

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope all you moms out there are having a special day!

Today I did one of my favorite things, create something new.  Here is a 6x6 Tri-fold tag wallet and gift card holder for a teacher’s end of year gift.   The wallet holds tags for all the children to decorate and sign.
Closed Wallet
Partially Open with Gift Card Pocket
Fully Open showing Tags for Children to Sign

I used paper and embellishments from the Club Scrap Spring Chorus collection and stamps from various Club Scrap collections.  The punches are Martha Stewart’s Swirling Lace, Sizzix Bird on a Branch die, and EK Success flower & leaves punch.  I finished it with bakers twine, washi tape, and mini brads.

Here are the details using three 8.5 x 11 papers for the base card (all units are in inches):
·         Two 7.25 x 8.5 for the sides; scored vertically at 0.5 on one side and 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75 on the other (toward the center).
·         One 7 x 8.5 for the center, score vertically at 0.5 from each edge.
·         Each card is scored horizontally at 2.5 to make the pocket.
·         Trim each piece as shown.  Note a 0.25 gap is on either side of the center to allow room for the tags.
·         Each side tab is attached to the center back using a 0.5 tab.
·         The pocket is from a 5.5 x 3.75 pieced that was cut diagonally1.0 up from the right edge to the top left edge.
·         Score the pocket 0.5 on each side except the diagonal.  Fold over, trim, and adhere to form the pocket.
